Child abuse is one of the most important problem associated with the under developed, developing and the developed nations. It is astonishing that most people even educated societies have little or no knowledge about the types of child abuse and their ill effects. Children are the future of the nation and therefore they need to be properly handled and taken care of. Any negligence and ill behavior with them can cause shattering of their self confidence and damaging their personalities. For this reason child abuse has been brought up at large platforms for the general public to pay attention to. Several efforts have been made to make people aware of the damage and disadvantages of abusing their child in any way. There are many societies that are actively participating in making their country child abuse free. This is an important task that requires proper education about this problem and the ways in which it can be resolved.

However, I will be presenting the Statistics on Child Abuse for United States of America because it is a developed country that acts as an example for many other developing and under developed countries. Recently Statistics on Child Abuse for USA suggest that the rate of child abuse has experienced a downfall; still in 2006 over 1.25 million children suffered from this problem. If we bring these numbers into simple figures then every one child out of fifty eight is abused in the United States of America. This figure is astonishing because if in a society like this, the Statistics on Child Abuse are so alarming, we cannot hope anything better from Africa or Asia.

Statistics on Child Abuse in America also gives numbers of children suffering from educational neglect, physical abuse and sexual abuse. Out of a total of 1.25 million, 61 % were a victim of neglect while 44 % suffered from abuse. The number of sexual abuse is very high which raises questions for this society to answer. There are certain steps that increase the probability of child abuse. If children are not living with their biological parents then the chances of child abuse increase. Also if the parents are unemployed and spend their time at home, the chances of child abuse become more. Statistics on Child Abuse are not good at this time and there is a hope that they will show a better picture in the future.
